Remote Work Requirements To Be Lifted

Beginning Friday, June 4th, 2021, businesses and non-profits will no longer be required to accommodate remote work arrangements or be required to reduce on-site staff to the minimal number necessary. Also, at indoor worksites closed to the public, employers may allow employees who can verify they are vaccinated to not wear a face mask and social distance.

Indoor Mask Mandate and Social Distancing Requirements Will Be Relaxed

Effective May 28th, 2021, the indoor mask mandate for most public spaces will be lifted, as well as the six-foot social distancing requirement in both indoor and outdoor spaces, the prohibition on dance floors at bars and restaurants, and the prohibition on ordering and eating/drinking while standing at bars and restaurants. Additionally, effective June 4th, 2021, indoor gathering and capacity limits will be lifted. Businesses may continue to require face coverings for employees, customers, and guests, and businesses are not permitted to restrict the use of face masks by their staff, customers, or visitors.

Pre-Registration for Phase 4 Grants Reopen

Business

Phase 4 of the Small Business Emergency Assistance Grant Program provides grants up to $20,000 to small- and medium-sized businesses and nonprofits that have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Pre-registration has reopened for business owners who did not pre-register in April. Businesses that have already applied for Phase 4 funding can check their application status at programs.njeda.com. Pre-registration for Phase 4 will be open until June 30th, 2021.

Sell Your Net Operating Loss and R&D Tax Credits for Cash

The Net Operating Loss (NOL) Program enables early-stage technology and life sciences companies to sell their New Jersey net operating losses and unused research and development (R&D) tax credits to unrelated profitable corporations for cash. Capital raised through this program can be used for costs including, but not limited to: fixed asset purchases; construction, acquisition, and development of real estate; materials; tenant fit-out; working capital; salaries; and, R&D expenditures. The New Jersey Economic Development Authority is accepting applications online through June 30th, 2021.

Businesses, non-profits, or individuals with an idea, solution, or initiative that improves job quality and economic security for New Jerseyans are invited to apply to the New Jersey Future of Work Accelerator. Through the free Accelerator, accepted participants will receive connections to funders, custom coaching, and opportunities to pilot or scale worker-centric programs in New Jersey. The PPE Access Program Deadline is May 28th, 2021

There is only a couple of days left for New Jersey-based businesses and organizations with 100 or fewer employees to apply for and use discounts of nearly 70% off purchases of personal protective equipment through the NJ Small and Micro Business PPE Access Program. Businesses that were approved previously do not need to reapply, but any discounts they have redeemed to date will be counted toward the program cap.
